The Pierces Part Deux!!!

Actually it's part 3 but I didn't make the first show now... Every week the crow gets bigger and more enthusiastic. In line there where a few pushy over zealous creepy fans and I was all "Geez kiddies this is The Pierces can we all get along???"Once inside the venue a certain new breeding stalker bloak threw a fit that there where seats saved for Alison's in laws.

Anyway whenever I go to see these 2 rock country chicks, I feel like I'm like the cool teenage girl (I'm 31) who snuck into the local girly gyspsie carnival for hot chicks and little instruments. Seriously every girl in the audience is a smoking hot fan or sibling....And its cool to be able to go hang out on Ludlow street in a venue packed with cool non-hipsters...The Pierce's tend to attract sexy southern local city gals!!!

Next Tuesday is the last sets kids/stalkers!!! Get your lipstick on and sexy sun dresses ready for the last hurrah!!!

Designer Awareness: Tina Tarantino Says Nay to Counterfeits!!!

I'm proud to say I've never owned a fake Fendi bag. I never understood that whole lets go to Canal street and swindle a faux Gucci or so??? Yes I've bought cheap things off the block but I always thought why buy a fake little Louis Vuitton knock off when the generic real one isn't all that great, you know what I mean (not the new it bag of the season) but the same efing bag every rich girl and her mother has. My mother told me when I was a little girl going school shopping that I could either buy 10 new cheap things or less than that for pricier items of clothing. I'm sure you can guess I have a designer closet with few pieces (some HM and stuff here and there)...Anyway read on to listen to the valuable message the lovely Tarina Tarantion has to offer. Oh yeah and she has a new Barbie out!!!!

What does luxury cost?

I hope you have a moment to read this because it is something very important to all of us at TT. It is something that we take for granted here because it is what we live everyday. We work in a place that is bright and sparkly and create pretty things and try to have as much fun as we can while doing it. The importance of the statement below cannot be emphasized enough. I still think its important to care about the things we are spending money on, where they come from and who might have made it. I urge all of you to get educated about the issues connected to buying counterfeit goods and how it affects all of us. I also urge all of you to find out more about the shocking sweatshop practices associated with the luxury goods market. xo&***sparkles, Tarina

HANDMADE WITH LOVE FROM THE SPARKLE FACTORY

Everything we create is handmade at The Sparkle Factory in downtown Los Angeles, U.S.A. We feel that it is important to share with you what it is you are buying when you choose to purchase something from TARINA TARANTINO.

Here at the Sparkle Factory we hand craft all of our jewelry, handbags and accessory collections, utilizing the finest materials. In a world that is increasingly giving less value to the origin of a product, we feel it is important to make something that we can feel good about offering and you can feel good about buying. This shouldn't be, but is becoming a rare luxury in todays throw away fashion culture.

The costume jewelry and handbag industry are some of the worst offenders when it comes to sweatshops, unfair labor practices and counterfeiting. Buying counterfeit goods also contributes to human trafficking and global terrorism.

We are doing our small part to combat all of these things and so are you when you invest in something special made at the Sparkle Factory in downtown Los Angeles, U.S.A.

Summer Daze

Drinking tea at Sympathy for the Kettle is my new all favorite pass time. Owner Jodi Holiday has created over 150 kinds of tea to serve inside her cozy tea house which is now my home away from home. I especially lover her honey infused lattes preferably the apricot or vanilla rooiabus flavor, I also fancy the iced rose chocolate chai tea. I swear by the healing remedies of tea. I've taken it as far as to buy some of her ingredients aka rose sugar, lavender honey, then come home and create my own magic potions.

I declare Tea is in fashion, and if you live in the east village it is local. Go visit!!!

Rule the World like Poppy King

Back in the 80's an Australian teen couldn't find the right exciting lipstick she dreamed of her entire life. So at the tender age of 18 she decided to create it and one year later had a multi million dollar business that would sell to Barnie's NYC the following year. Get inspired and excellent advice in her new book "Lesson's of a Lipstick Queen"...

The Many Muses of Mine B movie Actresses

Creepy beautiful Angela Bettis starred in this thriller "MAY" its about a twisted lonely girl that has a creepy doll for a friend and does other weird stuff around town.

I've always loved B movies and the actors or actresses that went with the territory. I probably felt like some of the best talent was going unknoticed when it came to acting and costume and sometimes even the script. This is Angela Bettis the only mainstream film you've probably seen her in is "Girl Interrupted"...I guess the dark side inside me will always be influential in whatever I do. I think its rather strange that Marylin Manson ends up dating anyone I get all excited over. I guess I have a pattern or maybe even the same interest as he.

Even Big time film "Grind House" was modeled after B movie flicks. Rose McGowan was perfectly placed in both feature films released last summer. Before she hit the A list she did her time and paid her dues in B movies like the psychotic teen sex kitten in "Devil in the Flesh" or "The Doom Generation", she even sat alongside Traci Lords in "Nowhere"...I always found Rose to be dark and highly seductive. Or maybe I just have a heart when it comes to psychopaths.

Reformed bad girl stunning starlet, Bijou Phillips is so hot it hurts!!! The youngest face ever to grace the cover of VOGUE magazine at the tender age of 13. I saw her in "Bully"and in "Tart". Two movies that terrified me. I can't wait to see her play punk rock bassist of the Germs in "What We do is Secret" and I've yet to see "Hostel"...

My current favorite actress has made it A list this past year. Evan Rachel Wood, I really hope to decorate her hair with my head candy!!! She's brilliant and "Pretty Persuasion"is one of my all time favorite films, destined to be a cult classic. Check her out in Italian Vogue below all secretary.

Finally don't hate me because I love Lohan "I Know Who Killed Me" my friend Shannon call's it Parent trap part 2 the dark side!!!

Linds is my favorite bad habit, FYI If anyone knows who designs these jeans give me a heads up, I want!!!!

Angel Lust Headband gets more press

Thanks to Jowita my fashionista celeb pimptress, Weezies did a little write up on Angel Lust!!!

Kristen is the designer behind Angel Lust, an accessories collection comprised of satin/lace bow headbands, barrettes, brooches, and bracelets. In the near future, she will be expanding to a clothing line as well.

This native New York designer is at the start of a very promising career and has already had her work featured on the uber popular television show Gossip Girl. Two characters, Jenny Humphrey and Hazel have sported the headbands in April episodes, with more to come in the new season to be shot in June 2008. If you’ve been living under a rock and have never heard of Gossip Girl, it’s a hit teen drama based on the popular novel series of the same name. It revolves around the lives of socialite young adults growing up on NY’s Upper East Side while dealing with sex, drugs, jealousy, and other teenage issues. Fashion is a huge part of this show and is therefore sometimes touted as Sex and the City for the younger generation.

Back to Kristen (the designer of the headbands, not the narrator of the show), she was also chosen among over 500 designers to showcase her headband collection in Henri Bendel, which includes French lace collaged pieces with Italian beads and Swarovski crystals and the now famous bow headbands worn on Gossip Girl. Her headband collection is sold in hip, young boutiques in NY as well as online.

We received the Vintage Inspired Lace Headband in Teal. This handcrafted satin ribbon with beaded studs and handcut French lace retails for $140.

With the headbands being handmade, each is slightly different from the next so it is truly an original piece.

The color of the satin in teal is just gorgeous and the black lace against it is striking. The studs in black, clear, and blue scattered about dress up the band a notch and the combination of all the aforementioned create a very feminine, vintage-looking piece that works well for casual as well as dressier styles.

Personally, I love it with a summer dress such as this sequin-trimmed bubble dress or this black tube dress. It gives both a fabulous punch of color and just a touch of dainty gracefulness and sophistication.

On the workmanship, it is handmade so you will see hand stitching in the back of the band. The lacework is delicate so if you use the band heavily, some of the edges might come off slightly which you can easily fix by re-gluing.

Other than that, if you’re a Gossip Girl fanatic and have been wishing to be led to where these headbands can be purchased from, you can thank your lucky stars because you’ve just been shown the way.

Follow the fashion all you want, but remember, always stay away from the bad stuff. Mellow your head out, stick a headband on it.
